Beauty buying runs on questions, comparisons and recommendations, which is exactly the shape of a conversational channel — provided your product information can support it.
Beauty has always been a recommendation category
Counter staff, hairdressers, friends, forums, magazines, creators: beauty demand has always been mediated by someone answering a question. The medium changes; the behaviour does not.
A conversational assistant is the newest version of that intermediary. Advertising there is less about shouting and more about being a genuinely good answer to a specific question.
The questions customers actually ask
They are more specific than most brand teams expect. Not 'best moisturiser', but something closer to 'what should I use on combination skin that gets dry in winter but breaks out in summer'.
- Suitability: will this work for me specifically
- Comparison: how is this different from the other one
- Routine: what order, with what, how often
- Value: is the more expensive one worth it
- Gifting: what should I buy for someone who likes this
Where beauty brands are usually under-prepared
Product information is the common weak point. Beauty catalogues accumulate inconsistent naming, missing attributes and descriptions written for a lookbook rather than a decision.
The second weak point is landing pages: an ad that names a shade, format or concern should open on a page that addresses it immediately.
Claims and category limits
We advertise cosmetic products described in cosmetic terms. We do not run campaigns for healthcare, medical products, supplements, health claims or regulated wellness products, and we will not write copy that implies a treatment outcome.
This is not caution for its own sake. Claim problems cost approvals, and in beauty they can cost considerably more than that.
A sensible first engagement
Start with a prioritised set of products rather than the whole range, agree what success means, set conversion measurement up properly and give it long enough to read.
Our management fee is £500 per month with advertising spend separate, so the commitment is legible from the start. If the channel is not working for you, you will hear it from us in the monthly report rather than discovering it a year later.
Questions
- Is this suitable for an independent brand?
- Often yes, provided product information is decent and there is enough budget for results to be readable. The management fee is the same regardless of brand size.
- Should this replace our other channels?
- No. It is an additional channel, and we would not advise moving budget away from something that is working for you.
